When it comes to virtual reality, there’s a lot to keep straight and a lot of misinformation available. You may hear seemingly similar terms thrown around interchangeably when discussing Virtual Reality; Augmented Reality or Mixed Reality being some of the more common terms. Though many people refer to these as one in the same, each is actually very different from one another, so let’s make some sense of the techy talk.
Virtual reality is a technology involving the creation of an artificial environment which is produced using special software. It requires participants to wear some kind of "head-mounted display." This display positions a screen within your line of vision and is usually powered by a computer, gaming console or mobile phone.
